What Lies Beneath
I Need You Tonight

900 - Captain's Quarters <Deck 9> [Gibraltar Station]

These quarters are spacious and comfortable, and of fairly good size. The main room is a rectangle with the door centered across from a bank of tall, straight windows. A white sofa, large enough for three, is placed under the windows slightly to the left, facing the door. A small fern rests on the window ledge, and a bright bouquet of flowers sit upon a smoked glass coffee table in front of the sofa. Twin chairs of the same plush style as the sofa complete the seating arrangement. To the left is an archway leading to a separate dining area, smoked glass table ringed with four dark chairs. There is a replicator in that room, and a lamp hangs low above the table to provide a softer mood. To the right of the main doors is a maroon chair before a large panel that can display anything needed at will. Next to the panel is a painting of a nebula, swirling greens, golds, blues, and reds. Beyond this is the door leading to the bedroom. The bed is large enough for two, with maroon comforter and gray pillows. There is a closet and cupboards for the occupant's belongings, and a bathroom that boasts not only a shower but a full tub as well. The carpeting throughout the quarters is deep red trimmed with gray, the walls paneled in yellow. Soft lighting comes from panels in the ceiling, and there are twin vertical alert tracers on either side of the door.

Players:
Bunni Aventino
Gwen Hawkins

Aventino steps inside briskly, slouching more than a little, hands clasped in front of her in a sort of intense gesture. "Captain?" she asks, looking for Hawkins.

Hawkins appears to be reviewing reports when Aventino comes in; she puts down the PADD and gestures to a chair near the couch. "Have a seat, Lieutenant... what can I do for you?"

Aventino goes and sits down swiftly, elbows on her lap and bent over them as if in some sort of intestinal discomfort, balls of her feet pressing on the ground. "Um, it's about the results from the, um, medical exam I had last night?" the inflection of her voice veers upward at the end as if it were a question, indicating some nervousness.

Hawkins nods slowly, attention focused on Aventino. "What about it?"

Aventino's eyes dart toward the pile of reports, "Have you gotten the report from medical, yet?" she asks, licking her lower lip, "Um, they didn't find much. Increased levels of seratonin, increased brain activity in regions associated with Psionics," she repeats, as if those words were seared into her brain. "No one could give me any reason why, or how, or if any of that is causing... err... certain needs of mine to be more intense than otherwise," she manages to spit out without being too crude. "And then they just sort of said, 'Okay, you can go,' but I honestly don't know what else might happen if I just... let go... like before, in the Shuttlebay. I don't want anyone to get hurt if I end up being unable to control myself, and I was wondering if there was any way-- I know, it sounds weird-- but for me to request some medical leave until whatever the fuck is going on gets sorted out?"

Hawkins nods slowly. "I haven't had a report from medical yet, no. However, if you're that worried, I can grant you temporary leave until the Doctor and Lieutenant T'Lyt have a chance to review. You'll still need to see T'Lyt, though, I'm sure."

Aventino nods, "Yes, I'm going to see her this morning," she replies quietly, crossing one leg high over the other and tensing her thighs, shifting to relieve her discomfort a little. "And thank you, Captain," she adds hastily. "I'll try to stay in my quarters," she murmurs, kind of breathless with the effort of not attempting to snog the Captain one, har hands running soothingly over her thighs. "Euh..." she adds, as if there were something else she's trying to put into words.

Hawkins raises her eyebrows. "Yes, Lieutenant?"

"Would you talk to Mister Danley, for me, Captain? I'd do it myself but I think my fist would prefer to converse with his face directly, and-- well, nobody needs that," Bunni bites roughly at her lower lip, focusing herself. "He very kindly was discussing my... problem... with me, earlier. He was the one to suggest I ask about some leave, and it was a good idea. But then... he took me back to his quarters... I asked if he wanted me to wait for him somewhere else, but he told me to come in... then... came out of his bedroom, half-naked... though he knew how easily I get... aroused, these days... he did it on purpose, I could tell," she sort of points to her head, "up here, and he got me all worked up and told me to wait for him in his bed, and so I did, and then he left, and left me... you know... ready and in need. It was a really cruel thing for him to do, considering everything, and I think someone ought to tell him that." She even seems to be tearing up a bit.

Hawkins nods slowly in reply to this. "I'll have a chat with him, Lieutenant. I'd also suggest that maybe we get you some help... blocking things out. It could explain your arousal."

Aventino takes a deep, shuddery breath as the Captain agrees, "Blocking things out?" she wonders, "Like... what? I don't understand..."

Hawkins taps her forehead. "Up here. I am told that one can block out all but the strongest of thoughts and emotions, with practice. Vulcans do so regularly. I've found that similar techniques can lead to an ability to control one's reactions that's useful anyhow." She smiles. "Perhaps Doctor Omtala or Counselor Salvir can help you with that, as they're both empaths. I'm... not certain Solvek's up to that right now, and Lieutenant T'Lyt may not be the most comfortable of people to help."

Aventino looks into the Captain's eyes with a quiet interest as she speaks, mouth slightly open and breath coming a bit more slowly as she sort of basks in the calm heat radiating from her. "Maybe I can find a holodeck program with a tutor for that sort of thing..." she murmurs, half to herself. "Or find some reading material on the subject."

Hawkins nods to this. "Excellent ideas both. Well. I will see to it that you are put on temporary medical leave, until you can sort this out or until the Doctor or your Assistant Chief feel it'd be better to do otherwise."

Aventino nods her head, "Alright. Thank you, again, Captain," she says, seeming on the whole a bit more relaxed than she was when she came in. "I'd better get to my meeting with Lieutenant T'Lyt."

Hawkins nods. "I'll send along a message letting her know I'll approve the leave."

Aventino slowly uncrosses her legs and stands up, nodding again, "Thanks," she repeats, turning to head out.

(We cut away to Aventino's quarters)

Junior Officer's Quarters 3902 <Deck 39> [Gibraltar Station]

Though relatively small in comparison to other suites aboard the base, these quarters are still spacious and comfortable. The main room is a square that makes up half the rectangle of these quarters. A white sofa, just large enough for two people, is placed against the wall to the right of the main door. A small fern sits upon a smoked glass coffee table in front of the sofa. Twin chairs of the same plush style as the sofa complete the seating arrangement. There is a replicator, small table, and two chairs to the left of the room, a walkway dividing the two areas. At the end of this walkway is the door leading to the bedroom, directly across from the main door. The bed is twin size, with maroon comforter and gray pillow. There is a closet and cupboards for the occupant's belongings, and a bathroom complete with shower. The carpeting throughout the quarters is gray, the walls paneled in the same color. Soft lighting comes from panels in the ceiling, and there are twin vertical alert tracers on either side of the door.

Players:
Winifred Brooks
Bunni Aventino

Aventino has some Stones music playing lightly in the background as she slumps on the couch, one foot up on the coffeetable as she reads some stuff off of a PADD, looking rather focused until the door opens and she looks up, "Oh. Hey, Fred. How did your physical go?"

Brooks shrugs a shoulder as she walks in. "Haven't had it yet... Sickbay's been awful busy. Not a terrible problem, really, just, y'know, want to get them a baseline." She looks freshly showered and glances around the room. "How're you doing?"

Aventino shrugs, "I just talked to the Captain, she put me on temporary medical leave until I can get my bits to stop leaking whenever I get within three feet of another living creature," she smirks a little. "So it's just me, for now, and these books geared toward prepubescent Betazoids on how to block out other peoples' thoughts."

Brooks raises her eyebrows, peers at the book. "Is it helping any? I mean... I've got no clue how hard it is to block out other people's thoughts, generally. My only experience with telepathy's been with... a different sort."

Aventino shrugs, "I just picked it up. I feel kind of retarded sitting here reading it. Like, it's written for kids and I can only understand about half of what it's going on about. I think I might get a holographic tutoring program, someone to talk me through it like a fucking adult. Who's never been psychic before," she tosses the PADD, sending it spiralling through the air and landing on the table by her foot.

Brooks tilts her head a bit. "Why not talk to someone who's been through it all already? They might be able to help better."

Aventino shrugs, "I dunno. A holographic tutor just seems less... personal, if you know what I mean. I don't really want a bunch of people digging around inside my head," she shrugs, "Plus, people tend to get stuck on explaining things a certain way. A holographic tutor can just keep pulling things from huge databases of help material until it finds something I can relate to... and can even work to figure out which approaches might work so we don't have to go through all of them."

"Yeah, but... how's a hologram ever gonna know if you're getting it right? Telepathy's to do with other people, right? You'll have to go out and find someone to see if it's working anyhow." Brooks pauses. "'Sides, they won't dig in your head without permission, that's against the morals and ethics and stuff."

Aventino puts her hands behind her head, "Stop being reasonable," she demands with a smirk, "You've been lingering too long with your boy," she chuckles.

Brooks smiles. "I'm generally reasonable. That's why he likes me." She tosses her hair over her shoulder. "C'mon, it wouldn't be that bad. Counselor Salvir's pretty nice. And I generally hate Counselors."

Aventino ughs, "Me, too. I had my appointment with his assistant, Dr. Whatshisname, the Trill," she mumbles, "It was probably the best assessment I've ever had. Half the time he talked about himself and the other half I talked about my penchant for Klingon food."

Brooks quirks a brow. "He talked about himself? How so?"

Aventino shrugs, "You know how Trill get. This host did this and that host liked that, and how very odd it is for me to be living with all these people in my head!"

"But... he's a Counselor. He's supposed to counsel you, not yammer about himself." Brooks shakes her head. "Enh. Go see Commander Salvir. He won't push, but he'll let you talk if you want to."

Aventino waves a hand dismissively, "Meh. It's not like I had anything to talk about. He put his John Hancock on my bill of sanity, and that's all I really needed from him. Maybe I'll go talk to the Doctor. She seems nice, she'll be able to help me. She's pretty crazy hot, too. Too bad she's married," she goes on, quirking a brow. "Err. That last part wasn't supposed to be out loud, sorry. Thoughtfilter is somewhat busted, as well."

Brooks chuckles in reply. "Just 'cause he thinks you're sane don't mean you don't have problems. Look at me. I still don't think he knows I have nightmares... but I don't tell Counselors things like that anymore. Anyhow, what good's Doctor Omtala gonna do, she's an Andorian?"

Aventino quirks a brow, "She's an empath," she tells Fred, "One of, you know, the white ones... what are they called? Aenar? I think? Or partly so? I'm guessing?" she asks, uncertain, herself.

Brooks blinks a few times. "She's not white, though. She's quite blue. But, eh, humans have empaths and telepaths sometimes too. Obivously. Maybe she can help."

Aventino shrugs, "Well, I dunno. Maybe I'll just go with the holotutor at first, see how it goes," she sighs, "I'm not hungry, but I should eat something, or I'll be hungry later."

Brooks grins in reply to this. "Food's always good. Why not eat later though?"

"Eating too soon before bed gives me weird dreams," Bunni replies with a shrug, "Plus it's not good for you to let all that stuff sit in your tummy overnight. Better to eat and then go do something. Not that-- I should go do something," she sort of corrects herself, "I'm going to try to stay here as much as possible until this crap gets sorted out. I don't want to cause people trouble."

Brooks shakes her head and starts walking over to the replicator. "What makes you think you're causing people trouble?"

Aventino chuckles, "Oh, let's see, there was the raid on the rave last night, and, oh, right, I got nekkid in Mister Danley's bed earlier today," she chuckles at herself, if rather irritably.

Brooks blinks. "You... what?"

Aventino grumps and leans on the side of her couch. "He was being a fucking dick," she grumbles.

Brooks rolls her hands in the air, like a wheel turning. "Elaborate... what happened? And what do you want to eat?"

Aventino hms, "I'll have a Hasparat wrap," she replies, "Well, we'd been talking in the holodeck about all this crap... and he's getting all high on his horse about how horny I've been recently, and I'm all, 'Yeah, I know, but there isn't much to do about it 'til sickbay figures out what the hell is going on,' and he mentions we should go talk to the Captain about some leave, and he invites me back to his quarters while he changes into some normal clothes. He comes out of his bedroom, nude to the waist and hot as hell, and he knows this has got to get me going, and he lets me grope on him a while before he tells me to go wait for him in bed."

Brooks dials up the order and peers over her shoulder with an eyebrow raised. Damn it all, if the girl spends any more time around Vulcans she'll morph into one. "And you waited in bed, and then...?"

Aventino looks hellishly grumpy, "And then nothing, the bastard ran off and left me to get my fingers soggy alone. God, I was so worked up, and then I had to go meet with the captain, and god my sex was quivering the whole time, fuck he is such an asshole, doing that when he knew what it would do to me."

The other eyebrow creeps up to join its partner. "Why would he do that?" Brooks seems quite confused by this turn of male behavior as she grabs a couple of plates and brings them over, handing the wrap to Aventino. Looks like she has a sandwich.

Brooks thinks, "God, are human men really that rude? I have been out of the dating world too long..."

Aventino sniffs the wrap and shoves it in her mouth, holding the plate just under her face and chewing and swallowing, "I dunno," she replies, "Thanks for calling up the wrap," she offers wanly enough, after her little explosion, "Mmm, that's about right. These replicators do a decent job getting the Bajoran spices down. Not like Klingon food. Ugh, it tastes like clay out of the replicator."

Brooks shrugs and sits down. "I always thought it'd be best to use the replicator to get the basic stuff and then cook it... I guess you have to want to take the time to cook, though." She takes a bite of her sandwich, chews, swallows. "So... you gonna kick his ass?"

Aventino frowns, "I'd rather not add to whatever brig time T'Lyt assigns me, really. I asked the Captain to tell him what a twat he is for me, so I don't have to do it myself and risk trying to punch his face in and steal his genitals for my own private use," she munches happily on hasparat, getting that cool burn along her palate and losing sensation in her lips.

"Mmm. What if he comes to talk to you? Apologize, or... finish things, or whatever?" Brooks munches on her sandwich.

Aventino growls, "I don't want apologies. I don't even really want to finish things, at this point, I would just prefer he left me the hell alone." She looks up over a bite of hasparat as the door chimes. "Who is it?"

Danley's voice comes through the door's intercom. "Ummm... Batman."

Aventino says, "Fuck off, Batman."

Danley's voice comes through the door's intercom. "Come on, I want to apologize."

Aventino says, "Are you armed?"

Danley's voice comes through the intercom. "Should I be?"

Aventino says, "I don't want you bringing a phaser in here."

Danley mutters, "Can I just give put it down in there or do I have to go put it up?"

Brooks blinks at Aventino. "A phaser? What's going on?"

Aventino says, "Leave it in the hall, or across the hall in Fred's room, she's in here with me." She glances away from the door, "He carries one around with him, evidently."

Danley's voice comes through the intercom. "Alright, I'm unarmed."

Aventino says, "Come in."

Brooks blinks at Bunni. "Does he have a permit for that?"

Danley comes through the door from Corridor <Deck 39>.
Danley has arrived.

Danley enters the quarters with his hands held up, "Who's gonna search me?"

Aventino is sitting on the couch, one foot on the coffeetable, a plate with a half-eaten hasparat wrap sitting on her lap, "Not it," she says, looking somewhat dour. "You wanted to apologize, go ahead, apologize," she says flatly, sounding as if she almost dares him to.

Brooks waves a hand, the other holding a sandwich. "I'm practically a married woman." She blinks at that and then shrugs, taking a bite of her sandwich.

Brooks thinks, "Wow, I am at that. Weird."

Danley shrugs a bit as he moves to one of the twin chairs and sits down first. Glancing over to Brooks and back to Aventino, "Ummm... I'm sorry? Geez... that sounded more like a question didn't it." He runs his hand through his hair and sighs, "How do I... listen, it took every ounce of self control for me to walk out of there because God knows I didn't want to. I'm just..." Shaking his head he starts to stare at the floor, "I'm... I'm married ya know? It wouldn't be right. I guess I shouldn't have been testing you. I thought... If you did start acting that way... maybe I could find something that might help you regain control or stop yourself. I... I'm sorry."

Aventino purses her numb lips and her nostrils flare, "You're right. You shouldn't have been testing me, 'cause guess what? This is not fucking sixth grade and I am not your goddamned science project," she growls out, "Yeah, there's something wrong with me. Yeah, I want to figure out what it is, how to make it stop, all that shit. But that doesn't give you the right to fuck with my head like that. You knew exactly how shit would go down, and you did it anyway," she mutters, evidently not ready to forgive him, quite yet.

Danley nods as he continues to stare at the floor, "I wasn't trying to turn you into a science experiment. I... I... screwed up alright? It's been years since I've really been around people. I mean... yeah I hung out in bars but not... really... talking and getting to know people ya know? It's been a long time since I've actually worried about anyone."

Brooks frowns a bit as she munches on her sandwich, looking between Danley and Aventino. It looks like maybe she has a thought, but doesn't voice it just yet.

Aventino takes a bite of hasparat and chews on the spicy wrap, blinking back a slight watering in her eyes either from the flaming spices or the hurt of getting yanked around like that, steeling her heart against the sad, sad tale of the lonely orphan boy. "Yeah. You screwed up. So learn from it and get out of here before I get the urge to jump your bones again. 'Cause goddamnit is that not even thinking of happening, now."

Brooks butts in. "You know... Bunni... you're not exactly in the most... err... stable state right now. At least he didn't take advantage of that. Not that he should've been messing around in the first place. But at least he had the werewithal to walk away. 'Cept he did it the wrong way." She shrugs. "Then again, what do I know about this stuff?"

Danley stands and heads to the door, "If you need anything just give me a yell."

Aventino turns her head toward Fred, her closeness with the Science officer causing her heart to soften a little to her words in defense of the bartender. She glances toward the door again, wordless until Danley's gone, then letting out a deep breath and looking back to Fred almost mournfully, "I just... need some time, that's all. The bastard meant well and everything, I guess, I'm just... argh. I can't believe anyone could actually think a stunt like that was a good idea," she sounds frustrated, angry, that tone of need underscoring her words.

Danley leaves through the door toward Corridor <Deck 39>.
Danley has left.

Brooks shrugs. "Males generally bumble about this entire process. It's sort of a fact of nature, and the reason we have so many rituals surrounding courting. It's worse when they've been out of practice for a while." Yet again she manages to sounds like a textbook, but then the tone turns more personal. "I think he does mean well and all, y'know? I've been mad as hell at him, but... he's a good guy, in the end. He still considers himself married, I guess, but his wife's dead... can't imagine how long it's been, y'know? Lots of... conflicting stuff going on. And whatever's up with you doesn't help."

Aventino rolls her eyes, "He's not even 'courting' me, that's the whole point. If he'd just wanted a tumble, hell, I wouldn't have minded, fuck, I've been hard on his heels for a rut since this whole thing started, that night in the Officers' Loun--" she breaks off in mid-word. "That's when this started, I was fine on shift that night in the cargo bay--" she blinks. "I should tell Sickbay, I couldn't really remember when I started feeling so strange, but that was the first night, I went straight off duty and to the Lounge and sat square on your boy's lap. Sorry about that, by the way."

Brooks wrinkles her nose a bit. "Well, it was only after that that Sol... vek..." Fred blinks repeatedly.

Aventino looks into Fred's eyes as she blinks so often, and for so long. "Is that, like, morse code?" she asks.

"Solvek started acting strange after that. I mean real strange. I thought it was just the puberty thing, but I'd convinced him to just kiss me the night before and then he takes me out to buy lingerie. Lingerie! And he kissed me on the Promenade, in front of everyone. I should've known..." Brooks is frowning. "And then everything jsut suddenly started moving so fast, and he can't... get enough... oh, God."

Aventino sets aside her plate of hasparat, almost finished with it, and she licks at her lips until she gets feeling back in them, "Yeah, I know the feeling," she mutters, "But I was feeling that... urge... before I ever sat down on his lap, or else I would never have... Well, I mean, he's your boy, after all," she sums it up, "I must have gotten whatever this is before that... but... how long before? Who knows how long from cause to effect? Or-- wait, if we assume I gave whatever this is to Solvek... how long after I sat on him did he begin acting strangely?"

Brooks frowns, thinking back. "He... got drinks for us... me and him and Danley... started going on about wanting to relax, just 'have a good time with his girl and his friends.' I told him he sounded like Thomas. This was right after you left. Then suddenly he's taking me out, buying me things..."

Aventino hms, "Yeah? So... not that long. It must have been someone on shift. Or something. Hell, two whole loads of crap in from the middle of nowhere via the Montgomery, who knows what they might have beamed on board. I should go back to the transporter logs and pick them over with a fine-toothed comb, see if any unauthorized viruses managed to sneak through the filters."

Brooks frowns slowly. "But... Sickbay ain't finding nothing. On anyone. And... you had contact with anyone much in Science?" Pause. "And why the hell am I not having issues?"

Aventino shrugs, "If it got through the transporter filters it's probably clever enough to slip by even a full examination, if the medicos don't know what to be looking for." She shakes her head, "Just you, mostly."

"Well, see, I'm fine. No psionic powers... no increased libido... I mean, if Solvek called me up right now I'd probably go, but it ain't like... I can't get enough, y'know? No acting funny." Brooks frowns. "But half the team studying the Montgomery stuff's gone odd, and it's spreading through the whole department."

Aventino frowns, "Maybe it only effects those with some leaning toward psionic powers anyhow. Solvek... I've got at least measurable amounts of Vulcan heritage as well as Betazoid... what about the people in Science? And why are we just sitting here instead of putting that cargo in quarantine?"

Brooks shakes her head slowly. "No... plenty of those people don't have any psionic heritage at all... it's like it's totally random. And it didn't hit two Betazoids on the team, but all four humans." Pause. "Maybe we should, at that."

Aventino waves her arms sort of helplessly, "Well, you're the science officer, page somebody up there and get it done," she bounds to her feet restlessly, beginning to pace.

"Yeah, but... what of it? Any of it? All of it? On my say-so? The Chief ain't even around..." Brooks sighs.

Aventino's eyes widen, "All of it, Fred. Hell, I'll get a list of the rest of the stuff transported on board that shift and get that recalled and quarantined, as we-- fuck. I can't. I'm on medical leave. Well, I'll send a message to the Captain. We need to get everything that was brought into that cargo bay that shift safely away from anyone else who might come into contact with aiee!" she pauses, almost to her desk and console, body jolting as if with pain.

Brooks stands, plate in her lap sliding to the floor. "Bunni? You alright? I'll call up and have them do it... I just can't guarantee it'll get done right away..."

Aventino leans over, balancing herself by her outstretched arms on the seat of her deskchair, grunting as one hand then moves swiftly back between her legs and she groans out in sheer, painful-sounding need. "Please... help... god, Fred, I need you, please," she flagrantly begs, knees going weak as she tries to stand up, her neck craning to pin her lust-filled eyes on Fred's form.

Brooks blinks at Aventino a few times. "Bunni. What're you talking about? Should I call a medic?"

Aventino grimaces at your words, standing up straight with some effort and crossing back toward Fred, "No, no please, don't leave me, I couldn't stand it, just touch me," she tells Fred, pushing herself close to her, slipping her arms around her friend's waist, "Forget the cargo, forget the quarantine, it doesn't matter, just hold me a while," she pleads sadly.

Brooks stiffens but doesn't move, wrapping her arms around Aventino. "Bunni... let's get you to Sickbay. Okay? There's something wrong with you and we need to get it fixed..."

Aventino takes a deep, shuddering breath as she feels Fred's arms around her, finally, though her words fall on senseless, heedless ears, Bunni simply staring amorously up into Fred's face and then dipping her head down, holding herself close and lips moving to graze with almost worshipful gentleness along the curve of Fred's neck, now kissing, now tracing softly with her tongue, moaning into the sweet contact of body to body.

Brooks stiffens even more. "Bunni... really... let's get you to Sickbay, okay?" She gently tries to disentangle herself from her friend. "This ain't you... it just something wrong with your body... so let's get it dealt with."

Solvek comes through the door from Corridor <Deck 39>.
Solvek has arrived.

Danley comes through the door from Corridor <Deck 39>.
Danley has arrived.

Aventino panics a little, herself, as Fred tries to pull away from her, eyes wide and full of fear, "Don't leave me alone, please, I can't be alone, don't stop touching me, I'll die if I can't touch you," she utters with tears brimming in her eyes, obviously completely believing the truth of the statement. She is standing shakily in the middle of the room, clinging to Brooks like she might not be able to stand except for the strength borrowed through bodily contact.

Brooks stands in the middle of the room, with Aventino holding onto her. She had her arms around the Operations officer, but is trying to disengage. "You ain't gonna die. Let me... get... my compin... Bunni, please." There's a note of panic at the end in her voice, too.

Solvek quickly assesses the scene before him. Without blinking, he quickly walks forward to Aventino and lightly pinches a point on her collarbone. The famous Vulcan Nerve Pinch. He moves to try and catch and scoop her up as she falls.

Aventino's eyes go slightly surprised, then dim, still looking up into Brooks' face as she crumples limply, arms slipping like noodles from around Fred's waist as she falls back into Solvek's arms.

Danley steps into the quarters behind Solvek and stands there for a moment. That is until Solvek knocks Bunni out, "Hey!" Danley starts to move toward Solvek, "Was that really called for? Bunni hasn't hurt anyone yet. I would think we could have broken this up without you having to do that."

Brooks steps back as Bunni falls, reaching up to rub at her own neck, staring at Solvek. "Th-thank you. How did you know..." She shakes her head. "There's something wrong, Solvek, and I think maybe with you, too. We gotta get her to Sickbay, and we gotta get stuff into quarantine..."

Solvek rises with Aventino in his arms. A look of concern and shame comes across his face. Without turning to Danley, "She's not hurt. I just incapacitated her. She's sleeping. I'm going to take her to Sickbay as soon as I figure something out." He looks down at Aventino, a piercing expression in his eyes.

Danley shakes his head, "She's been to Sickbay already. They did a full work and didn't find anything other than elevated seratonin levels, increased brain activity in areas related to psionics. But she has some Betazoid blood in her family tree somewhere. So I think they were chalking it up to that."

Brooks looks to Danley. "She started acting like... like if I didn't touch her, she'd die. Started kissing me." She frowns. "We were talking about when this all started, and when Solvek started being more... affectionate. And there's others, too, humans in Science who've gotten psionics, but the Betazoids on their team ain't acting weirdly at all. And how'd you know to come in, Solvek?"

Solvek continues staring at Aventino. Shifting his left arm, he holds out one finger in Fred's direction, motioning her to be quiet for a moment.

Danley nods, "Yeah, she's done that to me a couple of times and worse... but..." Moves to stare over Solvek shoulder, "What are you doing now?"

Brooks frowns at Solvek and walks over slowly. "I think he's scanning her."

Solvek's eyes refocus and he turns. "I believe you are better suited to handle this, Mr. Danley." He offers Aventino's limp form toward the other man.

Aventino seems rather contentedly peaceful, asleep and limp, obviously not being tormented by any needs in this state, so it's probably for the best that she stays that way a while. Especially as she hasn't slept properly in a few days.

Danley nods and takes Aventino from Solvek, "Alright I'll take care of her. You take care of Winifred. I'll pick my phaser up later."

Aventino's head shifts in mid-transfer, but she stays asleep, mouth drooping slightly open.

Brooks has her arms folded across her chest, frowning. "They both need to go to Sickbay. Something ain't right, I'm telling you."

Solvek staggers back into a chair. He seats himself and sighs. "If there is any problem with my actions, Mr. Danley, I encourage you to make a formal complaint to the Captain. Otherwise, Fred is right. In Sickbay, they may not be able to figure out what exactly is wrong, but it is a safer environment than out here."

Danley eyes Solvek a bit as he stands in the middle of the room with Aventino's body, "I have no proof you did anything. It's up to Bu... the Lieutenant here. But I've been saying something's wrong for a while. So if I take her to Sickbay are you going to come along and quarantine yourself as well?"

Aventino drools on Danley, face nestled along the side of his upper arm.

"Yes. He is." Fred says that in a tone that will brook no argument, moving to grab Solvek by the arm and dragging him up. "And so help me, if you start claiming everything you've said in the past week is just because of some... virus or something, I will hit you. Repeatedly."

Solvek looks at Fred as she drags him up. "If what I believe is true, whatever this is does not impose thoughts into our heads. It merely awakens something inside us. So my actions are not without merit. Everything I have said and have done... is based on my own feelings." It is apparent he is acting the Vulcan right now. He turns to Danely, "Yes, I must go to Sickbay as well, I believe that Commander Salvir will be able to help this entire situation, but until he is available, Sickbay is the safest place for us."

Danley heads towards the door, "Alright, come on, let's go... umm... hey Winifred... would you mind grabbing my phaser out of your quarters? I'll escort these two down to Sickbay."

Brooks nods to Danley. "I'll... umm... I'll do that." She moves to go to her quarters.

(The scene cuts to Sickbay.)

Main Sickbay <Deck 16> [Gibraltar Station]

The Main Patient Ward of Sickbay is an ovular room, wider at the aft than at the fore. The main door is in the aft wall, and directly to its right is a wall unit with receptacle for PADDs and a low counter upon which are arrayed fluid suspension modules. Against the starboard wall, next to the counter and receptacle, is the first of four biobeds, each in its own tiny alcove, heads to starboard, one by one to the aft wall. The biobeds are bluish gray, with a shimmering multicolored blanket on each which can keep a patient warm when necessary. At the head of each bed is a small monitor and a gray chair sits to the left, or aft, of each bed. To port of the main door is a large white display panel, beneath which is a counter supporting a variety of medical instruments. In the center of the room is a single biobed, bluish gray like the others, with that same blanket, but boasting a surgical support frame that creates an arch over the middle of the bed. The frame can be opened to allow patients to be moved if need be. Port, there is an alcove leading to an office and the Med Lab. Fore of this is a large bio display which can show the readouts of any patient in the ward. Fore again, there is a door leading to the Second Ward, next to which is a small utility cart and another counter with fluid suspension modules beneath a wall receptacle. The room is lit both by a large assembly over the central bed, which is in actually a sensor cluster meant to aid medical procedures, and also by lighting panels in the rest of the ceiling. Alert tracers line the wall above each biobed.

Ed Danley
Bunni Aventino
Winifred Brooks

(It's late... Gamma Shift... and Sickbay's relatively quiet, except for a couple of officers on biobeds off to one side.

Solvek shuffles in. He seems preoccupied at the moment.

Danley follows Solvek in carrying an unconscious Aventino.

Brooks follows the others, arms folded across her chest, frowning mostly at Solvek.

Aventino slumbers in. Danley seems to be toting the Lieutenant all over the place, recently. Ah, well, it saves the tread on her shoes getting worn too quickly.

Hawkins appears to have been over talking to a nurse, and looks up as the parade of officers comes in. She blinks and walks over. "Everything alright?"

Solvek looks up. "Not precisely. Ms. Aventino here suffered a lapse of sanity and attempted to... she attempted intimate actions with Fred. I was able to subdue her by means of my race's abilities and in the best interests of all involved, I believe Aventino and myself should be quarantined to Sickbay. There is something affecting us both."

Danley moves to an empty biobed and sets Aventino down upon it, "Of course Aventino was just in here and they didn't find anything other than elevated seratonin levels. So I'm not sure how much this is going to help."

Aventino curls instinctively up onto her side, pressing her cheek down against the biobed headrest as she enjoys some much-needed sleep.

Brooks moves to stand near Solvek, arms still folded across her chest, peering at Aventino. "At least in here they can't cause no trouble. Not that they are, but... they might. At least, y'know, until we get this sorted out. What I still don't get is, if it spread somehow from Bunni to Solvek, why didn't I get it? Or most others?"

Hawkins frowns at everyone. "Woah, woah, slow down. What is 'it,' how is it spreading, and should I be waking up Katheran?" God, please say no to that last...

Solvek shakes his head. "I don't think that is neccesary, as whatever 'it' is is not neccesarily a medical problem. It's rooted in the deepest recess of people's minds, therefore, I can only assume that it is more psychological in nature."

Danley says, "Well, I'm just a bartender... but... I wonder if it's got anything to do with latent empathic types. Course, that doesn't explain the commander here does it?"

Brooks shakes her head a little. "No, it doesn't... there's something we're missing here... damn it all, I hate this feeling!"

Hawkins nods slowly to both men, glances at Brooks. "We'll have to get the Counselor right on it. Is there anything in particular you've all been in contact with... a person, or a thing...?"

From one of the biobeds a man says, "Heh... person... thing.... it's all the same, isn't it? Stupid Captain, never figures anything out in time... 'til we all go boom. It'll just run around and around, and we can't stop it 'til we all go boom."

Something seems to snap in Solvek. He jerks involuntarily and his face contorts into a mask of rage. He starts to move toward the man on the biobed.

Hawkins steps right the hell in the way of the much larger and much stronger Vulcan, grabbing at his arms. "Solvek, calm down. He didn't mean it... just calm down."

Danley glances over as the man speaks before turning back to the others. A look of concern crosses his face as he sees Solvek's expression and Hawkins imposing herself in front of raging Vulcan. Danley calmly removes the concealed phaser, double checks it to make sure it's still set on stun and takes aim for when the Vulcan breaks past Hawkins.

Brooks frowns between Danley and Solvek, scanning the room for... something. Anything?

The man on the biobed sits up, as if recognizing the danger. Rather than flee, he barrels right at the Captain, sucker punching her in the kidney and causing her to double over, yelping in pain.

Danley is a little surprised as the man attacks Hawkins but he quickly changes targets and fires the phaser. The phaser just misses and hits the wall, scorching a console.

Alright, forget trying to find anything. As Danley fires the phaser shot that misses, Brooks just launches herself across the room, tackling the man who just punched her Captain--managing to dive for the ankles to try and trip him up. Take that!

The man is unsteady but not quite down yet.

Solvek, even more angered at the attack on his Captain, swings at the officer. However, the other man quickly ducks and dodges the blow.

Hawkins is on her knees at this point, one hand clutching at her kidney, but tries to sweep out with the other... failing miserably. "God damn it... Security!"

The officer, emboldened by ducking the Vulcan and the Captain's incapacitation, laughs and kicks at Brooks, hitting her square in the face.

Brooks takes the blow with a kind of half-stoic, half pissed off glare. Which is to say, the guy kicks her and she responds by grabbing his ankle and twisting. Which doesn't seem to do anything, but man, does she look pissed.

Solvek, with the fury of a thousand suns burning in his eyes, wildly swings for the man's head. Apparently this fury is affecting his aim, as he wildly misses.

Danley takes better aim this time and squeezes the trigger. That is until Solvek's wild punch places him in front of the shot, "Loo..." but before Danley can get the last of the warning out Solvek's hit by the blast.

Solvek flinches from the blast, and seems to teeter, however, he shakes himself and manages to stay upright.

It's just not the Captain's day. She can't seem to take the man down... too much pain in her kidney. Instead, she reaches for her compin, taps it. "Hawkins to Security..."

Danley winces a bit after the last shot, "Stay out of the way." He takes better aim this time and fires once more.

The officer gets hit in the chest and goes down, collapsing backwards.

Solvek apparently realizes his target is neutralized. The fire goes out of his eyes and he falls to his knees, putting his head in his hands.

Brooks surveys the situation through a bleeding nose, one hand held up to it, peering between everyone. When Solvek falls to his knees she moves to him, putting out a hand. "I think we're all gonna need medics... except maybe Danley here..."

Hawkins looks up and over to Danley. "Thanks," she says. She talks to Security for a moment and then calls for medical personnel.

Danley shrugs a bit as he puts the phaser away, "Looks like I need to hit the range again. I'm outta practice. So what in the world set the both of them off? And why would he think we're going to 'go boom'?"

Solvek kneels silently, almost in a sort of trance. However, he can be seen shaking mildly every so often.

Brooks ignores Danley for now, instead leaning over Solvek, trying not to drip blood on him. She puts an arm around him. "Hey... honey... what's wrong?" She waves off a medic who comes to try and fix her nose, but finally sighs and lets them administer to her, while keeping the arm around the Vulcan.

Hawkins frowns at Solvek, but speaks to Danley. "I don't really know. I'd assume Reinhart's comment set Solvek off... why he chose to defend himself like that is beyond me." She frowns to the downed officer, who's being moved back to his bed.

Danley glances over to Bunni and nods, "She must be tired to sleep through that." Shaking his head he begins to move away from the bed. "So, Aventino work on the shuttle that went into the strom, the Commander here was in the shuttle. I wonder if anyone else who was invovled with the shuttle or the repair have been affected."

"I... don't know." Solvek whispers. He shakes his head absently, "No... not the Maelstrom... something more recent. Something new."

Brooks sighs and scoots around, waving the medic off with her nose now bandaged. "We'll figure it out, alright, hon?" Brooks' voice is low, soothing. "For now, let's just get you calmed down. Want me to get some tea or something?" Ahh, yes. Tea fixes everything.

Hawkins sighs, looks to Danley as she stands, stretching herself out. "Ms. Brooks here and Ms. Andrews don't seem affected; nor does Commander Tremar. I think we have another culprit to find. And we will find it... for now, why don't you go get some sleep, Mr. Danley. I'll be sure you're kept informed."

Danley glances back to the biobed briefly before heading towards the door, "Just give me a yell if you need anything."

Solvek slowly rises to his feet, shaking his head. "No, just... stay near. I need... rest. Danley's shot combined with the anger has taken a lot out of me." He slowly moves towards one of the empty biobeds.

Hawkins waves off a medic. "I'm fine. I've had worse falling down a flight of stairs." She looks amused for a moment at the medic's confused look, but then sighs, looking to Solvek. "Take care of him." That's to Brooks. "I'm going to make sure we get to the bottom of this." She looks to Aventino and Reinhart as well, shakes her head, and heads out...

Brooks nods to the Captain as she leaves and then moves over next to Solvek as he lays himself on one of the biobeds. "I'm right here, love. And I'll stay right here as long as you need, alright?" She takes his hand in both of hers and leans over to kiss him gently.

Solvek returns the kiss, closes his eyes, and mumbles, "Thank you. You here is all I really need, for now."
